J.M.Wolf's Introspection
Needles

Death arrives at the scene of a tragic hiking accident,

It walks towards a man sitting on a boulder, sobbing at the base of a large mountain,

Death looks down at the man and says “Come now young one, it is your time”

The man looks up at the cloaked and twisted ethereal form of death and whimpers:

“No, no I am not ready! There is still much I need before I leave this world”

Death curious at this statement asks “What is it you need after such a prosperous life?”

The mortified man responds “I recently won the lottery! I want to spend the money and enjoy it! I need to buy a sports car, I need to finish this holiday, I want to buy a mansion, I always needed one, I need so many things and I have not had a chance to have them! You can’t take me yet! Why is life so cruel?!”

Death was astounded at the mans fervor, so he decided to make a bargain

“If I give you everything you need to live a happy life, would you then willingly come with me and fulfill your destiny?”

“Yes! Yes I will! I will come willingly!” the man exclaims.

Death points a ghostly finger to the boulder under the man “Underneath this stone you will find everything you need now”

The man stands and with all his might rolls the boulder aside revealing the moist earth underneath.

“Wait, what is this? There is NOTHING here! You tricked me!” Says the man furiously.

Death cocks its head to one side and says “No, I did not trick you mortal, you have been tricked by your society, you have confused want with need, you have had everything you need your whole life! Nourishment to support your life, shelter and warmth throughout and the love and companionship of your family and friends”

The man now ashamed of a life wasted to greed and regret willingly walks beside death, into the maw of oblivion, now regretting one thing alone,

Never saying goodbye to those that loved him.

The Bizarre and the interesting meet in this fascinating gallery

When the dead are alone, they chat very pleasantly amongst themselves and tell each other things; they tell each other their stories. It must be very interesting to live inside a cemetery and hear how the dead tell each other things, their sorrows, their joys, everything.

El poeta cubano Eliseo Diego

When I was but a child
My imagination ran wild

And within my mind a friend was born
He would ware a helm of fur and horn

He would speak in riddles behind a thick orange beard
And with his axe he would slay all the things I feared

A Viking Huscarl was he, of stature small yet stout
… And no matter where I ventured, he would always be about

On long ships within my dreams he would travel
And mysteries large and small he would unravel

A Viking Huscarl within my mind was born
On his mighty brow a helm of fur and horn

Then I perceived with horror that I was growing too old for pleasure. Ruthless Time had set its fell claw upon me, and I was seventeen… . There is too much wistful memory in such procedure, for the fleeting joy of childhood may never be recaptured. Adulthood is hell.

Moe), 1920

Wake early
if you want
another man’s life or land.
No lamb
for the lazy wolf.
No battle’s won in bed.
